i'm going to have a rant about the poor quality of music that is on offer at the moment. i think people should be able to rant as much as they want cos otherwise you go crazy. so heres a thread to get your voice heard! ok, so the so-called r n b bands suck, but i'm talking about this pop rock crap. wtf is going on with all these moaning emo bands and poncey brit pop. can't people see that these rich uni and public school boys are ruining music? i.e. Franz Ferdinand, Keane, Doves.... whats going on???

LOL, at least you guys have a radio station that plays alternative. Where I live in the Philadelphia area we had one alternative rock station which was really awesome until about two years ago when they started being forced to play the "pop punk/emo" because that's what was in at the moment. Then Radio One (who had been forcing them to play that shit) decided that listenership was down so they completely took it off the air and replaced it with the 7th hip hop station in the Philadelphia area. There's been a protest over this, and even a lot of media coverage, including Rolling Stone magazine. Its crazy. Personally I have signed the petition, wrote to the President of Radio One, I sent an email to the LAS to tell them (since the station played silverchair up to Neon Ballroom) (they said they sent the email to management ;D) and posted this info on my journal and on the Chili Peppers message board. Oh and spread the word by mouth to some friends, including Jaz. Anyway, check out this website to show your support too. Also, feel free to listen into their new internet broadcast, its got everthing from classic punk (the ramones/clash even Fugazi) good old 90's alternative (Nirvana, RHCP, Pearl Jam), Modern (Franz Ferdinand, The Killers) and Indie such as Bright Eyes and Ben Kweller. www.y100rocks.com/

I HATE FRANZ FERDINAND!!!!! AHHHHHH!!!
There are a couple of good emo bands such as Thursay and well Thrice but they are more emocore. Other than those 2 thought the rest are crap.
Franz Ferdinand give the Scottish music scene a bad name, there are so many good bands up here who are all about the music but they get left unnoticed by these commercial bands who care about nothing but the cash like franz ferdinand... i really do hate them.
Ah well thats a weight offa my shoulders ;D

I don't understand emo - I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT!!?! It means emotional, yeah? AAALL music that is created by a human being has some form of emotion in it - wether that be love/hate/sadness/happiness/horniness (...I just watched the Anna Nicole AVMA thing...) or even boredom. So what's up with this scence?
Is it cos I'm not in high school anymore? Have I really become that out of touch at 24?
In the immortal words of Pauline Hanson - please explain?

Its just a made up word for music. Just so everyone can relate to it, for example "Grunge". I totally agree with you Kyee and i'm 18. WTF is up with shittie Emo??? WHY???
oh yeah and the support acts. I reckon they would think they wouldn't be able to get fans unless they have everything thats in the trend. Scared to go out without their scarves. Its all in the music, its all in the meat (or vegetable cause i don't eat meat). Its the music that defines ones fanbase. If you stand there with a scarve your selling yourself, not your music. But whatever they feel comfortable in i suppose, as i've said "everyone has their own opinions"... however stupid.
